It wasn’t your typical spring break trip. No flip-flops, sunglasses, and sunscreen were packed in these students’ bags. Instead, they opted for facemasks, safety glasses, and heavy-duty gloves to protect them from the mold, mildew, and debris left behind from Superstorm Sandy.
A writer, filmmaker, and activist known as an “uncompromising fighter for racial equity and social justice” delivered a message on diversity and misunderstandings at a recent ߲ݴý University lecture.
The camp is the result of a partnership between ߲ݴý and the Avenue Scholars Foundation, a program started in 2008 to support students from Omaha area high schools who need some extra guidance as they continue from high school, into college, and eventually the workforce.
