Six ���߲ݴ�ý University alumni were honored recently for their impact on the world and on their alma mater.

The honorees were recognized during the University’s annual Legends and Legacies Alumni Association Award Dinner, held September 23.

Award recipients were selected by the Alumni Association’s Recognition Committee.

This year’s honorees are:

���߲ݴ�ý University crowned Sarah Hotovy of York and Collin Shepherd of North Platte as its 2011 homecoming queen and king.

The college seniors were recognized during ceremonies held at the university’s annual homecoming weekend, September 22-25.

A long-time ���߲ݴ�ý University French professor has died. Professor Emeritus Anthony Epp died Monday, June 6. He was 69.

���߲ݴ�ý University has recognized six of its graduates with alumni awards. The honors were bestowed at the university’s annual Legends and Legacies Award Dinner on October 22.

���߲ݴ�ý University crowned Caitlin Bennett of Omaha and Jeff Baumann of North Platte as its 2010 homecoming queen and king. The college seniors were recognized during ceremonies held at the university’s annual homecoming weekend, October 21-24.

For 11 years, Maxine Fawcett-Yeske has taught ���߲ݴ�ý University students to appreciate music.

Political science professor Kelly Eaton is passionate about experiential learning. So it’s fitting that the new position she’ll begin this summer will focus on transforming ���߲ݴ�ý students.

Beginning July 1, Eaton will be the assistant provost for experiential learning.

���߲ݴ�ý University Senior Alex Bednar grew up eating Czech food and celebrating his Czech heritage. Starting next fall, he’ll be immersed in the culture he’s so interested in thanks to a Fulbright Scholarship that will send him to the Czech Republic.

A ���߲ݴ�ý University forensic science professor has returned home after a two-week mission in Haiti where she helped identify Americans who perished in the January 12 earthquake.

���߲ݴ�ý University professor Kathy Wolfe has been named the new Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Wolfe — a ���߲ݴ�ý alumna — is an associate professor of English and has taught at ���߲ݴ�ý since 2000.

A ���߲ݴ�ý University forensic science professor has been deployed to Haiti where she will spend two weeks working in a mobile morgue.

“We train for this,” said Melissa Connor, professor and director of ���߲ݴ�ý’s Forensic Science Program. “These are the situations you deal with when you work in the forensic science field.”

Fifteen student members of ���߲ݴ�ý’s Global Service Learning organization traveled to Rosebud Indian Reservation during their recent winter break hoping to help its residents clean, sort, and organize a thrift store.

That task was accomplished. Perhaps their bigger accomplishment was the life lessons they brought back to Lincoln.
