A ߲ݴý University math professor has been awarded the “Exemplary Teaching Award.”

Kristie Pfabe, professor of mathematics and computer science, was recognized October 2 with the award, which is presented annually by the Division of Higher Education of the Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church.

Kyle Rohrich and Alex Cowsky spent the first two weeks of the spring semester in five Spanish cities where they researched public opinion on the Basque conflict.

“I can read plenty of academic journals about what people went through, but it’s so different when you can actually go and hear people talk about it themselves,” said Rohrich.

A ߲ݴý University English professor has been awarded a Fulbright Specialists Grant to teach in India next fall.

Gerise Herndon, Professor of English, Director of the Gender Studies Program, and the University’s Fulbright Program Advisor, will spend six weeks at Banaras Hindu University where she will teach feminist theories, multiculturalism and identity politics.

߲ݴý University sophomore Gabe Taylor fondly remembers the University Choir’s international tour to Estonia last summer. He enjoyed the country so much that he called his mom from Estonia saying he didn’t want to come home.

Thanks to a Gilman International Scholarship, Taylor will return to Estonia for his spring semester.
