º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ University seeks applications for a computer Systems Administrator. The position is responsible for the planning, implementation and on-going operation of a wide range of critical University computing services.  These services include email, file storage, database management, security, and all authentication services including local Active Directory and Cloud Services. This role will include efforts to co-lead a major IT project which involves migrating the university and all departments to a Microsoft Active Directory solution.

The position collaborates with other professional staff in the university to manage multiple other systems needed by the university including but not limited to the SIS and LMS systems. Also included is management of the physical servers, storage infrastructures and virtualization environments.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with the development of contracts for equipment, services, and maintenance.
  • Recommends purchase, configuration, and installation of new hardware and software for the University. Integrates new devices, systems, services and software with the organization’s current infrastructure.
  • Sets up, configures and maintains:
    • system hardware (servers, storage, some networking) for the infrastructure and virtualization environments. 
    • all virtualization environments.
    • local and hosted mail systems and related services.
    • local file servers, database servers, and other specialized servers for CSIT and other departments.
    • backup systems and services.
    • IdP and authentication services (AD, LDAP, SAML/OIDC) along with IdP integration for all University supported services and applications.
    • user accounts in collaboration with the SIS administrator.  Manages groups, permissions, for users, departments, divisions and organizations to access University maintained applications, storage, servers and services.
  • Responds to system emergencies to ensure data access for users.  Assists users with problems regarding access to system services and data.
  • Advises on departmental budget and recommends purchase orders and expenditures.
  • Serves on ad hoc committees as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree required. Certifications or equivalent experience will be considered in place of a degree.
  • 3+ years of information technology related experience is necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience with the administration of Linux and Windows servers in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with VMWare, VCenter, and VSphere virtualization technologies along with knowledge of iSCSI SAN arrays
  • Administrative knowledge of and experience with the SAML stack and enterprise IdP concepts and implementations (Preferred knowledge in several of the following: Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Shibboleth, Auth0, Google Workspace, OneLogin, or Ping Identity.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of at least one programming and/or scripting language with working knowledge of others. Preferred languages include Perl, Python, Go, or Powershell. 
  • Experience managing SAN arrays and server hardware through iLO/iDRAC interfaces
  • Experience with XDR/EDR endpoint security on Windows and Mac 
  • Experience managing enterprise mail flows with Exchange Online
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, time management, and ability to troubleshoot complex reports and analytical issues with data.
  • Demonstrates the ability to multitask and manage several projects at once.
  • Demonstrates good organizational, writing, and proofreading skills; must be detail oriented, adaptable, and flexible; and work in an environment with multiple interruptions.
  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.  Experience with technical documentation is a plus.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain and be responsible for confidential information.

Preference will be given for experience with or working knowledge of:

  • Okta
  • Managing Academic or Enterprise licensed Office 365 and Microsoft Entra ID
  • LAMP/LAPP stacks
  • Containerization
  • SALT based management
  • AD, LDAP, and Radius based authentication
  • Samba, NFS, FTP, Bind, DHCPd, Postfix/Sendmail and other Linux services
  • Microsoft IIS and MSSQL Server
  • Managing and using ticketing systems, preferably ZenDesk
  • Veeam or other backup solutions
  • Sophos endpoint security systems on Windows, Mac and Linux
  • Red Hat or SuSE Linux in an enterprise environment
