College-going rates among high school graduates declined across the board this fall, new data from Clearinghouse show. This drop was especially pronounced across low-income and high-poverty high schools and high schools with many Black and Hispanic students.
This Clearinghouse report shows the number of high school graduates going straight to college decreased by 22% last fall, driven mostly by sharp losses of lower-income and urban high school students. Inside Higher Ed contends this trend, coupled with the decline in community college enrollment, paints the bleak picture that more vulnerable students are simply not going to college.
º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ University is responding by expanding its Access º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Scholarship Program to include all Pell-eligible students regardless of state residency. Launched last year for Pell-eligible Nebraskans, the full-tuition program now extends to students from all 50 states.
This expanded financial assistance program combines with º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ University’s personal academic advising and comprehensive support through residential education and student life.
