Two º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ University students have been selected to receive a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad.
Carlin Daharsh, a junior Spanish and political science major from Gothenburg, will spend the fall semester at the Universidad Casa Grande-Guayaquil in Ecuador. Anna Donley, a junior Spanish and psychology major from Lincoln will spend the 2016-2017 academic year at Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla in Mexico.
The Gilman Scholarship is a nationally competitive program that assists students with study abroad expenses. The program aims to diversity the students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go. The scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
This year 2,900 students applied for the scholarship with 850 students selected. º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ is the only university in the state with multiple recipients. Forty-one º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ students have been awarded Gilman Scholarships since the program began in 2001.
