How does your living room, office, music collection and Facebook profile reflect who you are?
A Texas psychology professor says these environments are rich with information about our values, attitudes, preferences and personality.
Sam Gosling, psychology professor at the University of Texas-Austin, will deliver ߲ݴý University’s annual Fawl Psychology Lecture. The lecture, titled “Snoop Dreams: The Expression of Personality in Everyday Contexts,” will be held Friday, November 7 at 2 p.m. in Olin B Lecture Hall.
Gosling will share the result of a decade’s worth of research unraveling the links between people and places and what they mean. Some clues, Gosling says, like the Martin Luther King poster of an office wall or the high-brow books left casually on a coffee table are deliberate but not always disingenuous signals directed toward others about how we would like to be seen.
This lecture is free and open to the public. Olin B Lecture Hall is located one block east of 50th Street and St. Paul Ave.
The Clifford Fawl Psychology Lecture is named in honor of Dr. Clifford L. Fawl, a long-time ߲ݴý professor and chair of the Department of Psychology. The series brings in nationally-recognized speakers in the area of psychology.
