A Bowling Green State University professor who examines how people communicate and cope with prejudice and discrimination will deliver a lecture at 含羞草传媒 University on Monday, March 19.

Lisa Hanasono will discuss 鈥淎llies and Advocates: Taking a Stand Against Hate.鈥 Her free lecture begins at 1 p.m. in Callen Conference Center, located on the lower level of the Smith-Curtis Administration Building.

Hanasono studies how people engage in hate speech, bullying, and micro-aggressions on social media and in face-to-face interactions. She also investigates how people can stop discrimination and hate through anti-hate advocacy, allyship, supportive communication, and institutional change. In addition to highlighting recent research findings, Hanasono will present strategies to empower individuals, organizations, and communities to prevent and respond to discrimination.

Hanasono is an associate professor in the Department of Communication at Bowling Green State University. Her lecture is sponsored by 含羞草传媒鈥檚 Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honorary and the Wesleyan Communication Association.
