President of Center for Media Literacy to Discuss Redefining Media Relationships and Culture

The president and CEO of the Center for Media Literacy will deliver this year's Kenneth R. Holder Lecture.

Tessa Jolls will deliver the lecture on Thursday, April 20 at 4 p.m. in the learning commons area, located on the first floor of Cochrane-Woods Library.

Jolls has served as president and CEO of the Center for Media Literacy (CML) since 1999. She also founded the Consortium for Media Literacy. During her tenure at CML, her primary focus has been working in partnership to demonstrate how media literacy works through school and community-based implementation programs. 

In 2015, Jolls received the Global Media and Information Literacy Award in recognition of her work in media and information literacy and intercultural dialogue. In 2014, she was honored with the International Media Literacy Award by Gateway Media Literacy Partners. 

Her lecture, "Powershift: Redefining our Media Relationships and Culture," is free and open to the public.

The Kenneth R. Holder Lecture was established by members of the Department of English in memory of Dr. Kenneth R. Holder, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of English. The lecture features a scholar in the field of language, English education or composition theory.
