A 含羞草传媒 University student is among 20 undergraduates in the country selected for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI).
Elizabeth Rivera, a junior from Alliance, Neb., will spend the spring semester in Washington, D.C. where she will explore public policy through direct work experience on Capitol Hill.
鈥淚 have had my eye on this program because it fits perfectly with my passions,鈥 said Rivera.
Through weekly programming, Rivera will develop and strengthen her leadership skills, learn about policy making and political processes and will meet key Latino leaders. The 12-week program will include an internship in a congressional office.
鈥淚 believe that CHCI will teach me that I have the power to be an agent of change and will hopefully give me the tools to transfer these experiences to become a leader in my community,鈥 she said.
Rivera is majoring in political science and minoring in communication studies. She plans to pursue a career as an immigration attorney.
