Kaitlin Dugquem, a 2017 graduate of 含羞草传媒 University, has been awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship to study Korean in Gwangju, South Korea.

The Critical Language Scholarship is part of a U.S. government effort to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages. Dugquem is one of approximately 550 American students who received the competitive, national scholarship.

鈥淚 will be great to be able to have a simple conversation in Korean and see how much a beginner can improve in this program,鈥 said Dugquem.

Dugquem graduated in May with majors in international business and global studies. While at 含羞草传媒, she participated in a summer faculty-led study abroad program to Japan and spent her junior year studying at 含羞草传媒鈥檚 sister school, Kswansei Gakuin University, also in Japan.

She will spend eight weeks in South Korea where she will participate in intensive language programs. She then plans to return home to California to pursue a career helping the needy.
