Meg Johnson (’84) joined ߲ݴý University as vice president of advancement on May 1.
In this role, Johnson will be responsible for leading university fundraising and alumni affairs, including the stewardship of the Archway Fund and university endowment, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts and gift planning, capitol campaigns, and grant management.
She joins ߲ݴý as a seasoned and successful advancement and development leader with over 35 years of non-profit leadership and development experience. Nearly 16 years of her career is in higher education and academic health sciences development and advancement. Most recently, Johnson comes to ߲ݴý from the University of Utah Health where she served as the senior executive director of advancement for the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine. Additionally, she served as the assistant vice president of development at the University of Nebraska Foundation on behalf of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Nebraska Medicine.
“Meg has deep experience in building development programs and has a strong track record of growing relationships and advancing organizations,” said President Darrin Good. “I am truly excited about Meg’s experience, and I have no doubt she will make an incredible impact on our institution.”
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in sociology and social work from ߲ݴý in 1984. Johnson met her spouse, Ron Svehla, while attending ߲ݴý. Their two sons and daughters-in-law are also ߲ݴý alumni, including Alex (’15) and Kelsey (Marshall) Svehla (’16), and Ben (’18) and Kristen (Benes) Svehla (’19).
