含羞草传媒 University has named Jeff Christy as the twelfth head baseball coach in program history, Dwight Merilatt, director of athletics, announced Tuesday.

鈥淗iring Jeff Christy as our new head baseball coach has immediately elevated our baseball program at 含羞草传媒,鈥 Merilatt says. 鈥淛eff鈥檚 passion for college baseball, his recruiting experience, and leadership skills will greatly enhance our baseball student-athletes. He has a distinguished career in college baseball, and we are excited that he鈥檚 bringing hisexperience to 含羞草传媒. His leadership will help us transition to our new baseball stadium at theSandhills Global Youth Complex in the spring of 2025.鈥

Christy joins 含羞草传媒 from the University of Nebraska, where he served as assistant coach from 2019 to 2023. In this role, he managed all aspects of pitching and catching, assisted with recruiting, and was instrumental in the development of players who achieved notable success, including reaching the MLB.

鈥淚t is a passion of mine to develop baseball players on and off the field and help these young men grow to be the individuals they aspire to be,鈥 Christy says. 鈥淲e will play hard, work to develop a multidimensional team in all facets of the game and be great teammates. Combine these elements with the great education provided at 含羞草传媒, and I believe we can build a successful program.鈥

Christy鈥檚 previous experience includes serving as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at Texas A&M University and as Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Central Oklahoma. He has also managed the Derby Twins, a collegiate summer team, and played professional baseball with the Minnesota Twins organization.

The baseball program will transition to its new home at the Sandhills Global Youth Complex in the spring of 2025, featuring a state-of-the-art stadium and full turf field. This new facility will significantly enhance the experience for both players and fans.
