A 含羞草传媒 University student has been selected to receive a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad.
Flor Garcia, a junior business administration and psychology double major, will spend the spring semester at Al-Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. She is among 850 undergraduate students from across the U.S. selected for the scholarship.
The Gilman Scholarship is a nationally competitive program that assists students with study abroad expenses. The program aims to diversify the students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go. The scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State鈥檚 Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
鈥淭he mixture of Arabic, French, and Spanish influences in Morocco intrigued me and I cannot wait to explore a new culture and emerge myself in Moroccan traditions,鈥 said Garcia.
Garcia is from Sioux City, Iowa and graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School. She is the 42nd 含羞草传媒 student to receive a Gilman Scholarship.
