Two 含羞草传媒 University students have been selected for the Fulbright Summer Institute. They are among approximately 60 undergraduates from the United States and UK to be selected for the prestigious program.
Mariah Fallick, a first year biology major from Lincoln, will spend six weeks in the Fulbright Wales Summer Institute. While in Wales Fallick will explore the country鈥檚 geography, culture, heritage and history. She will spend two weeks each at Cardiff University, Bangor University and Aberystwyth University. This will be her first study abroad experience while at 含羞草传媒.
鈥淚 know this experience is going to open up so many new doors for me and equip me with the skills and confidence to pursue them all,鈥 said Fallick.
Anna Donley, a sophomore psychology and Spanish major from Lincoln, will spend four weeks attending the Queens University Belfast Summer Institute in Northern Ireland. She will spend two weeks immersing herself in the culture and spend the final two weeks serving as a group leader for the Irish Studies Summer School, which will focus on Irish history, culture and identity all based on the topic of conflict resolution.
鈥淢y background in psychology made me interested in the elements of conflict resolution from a social psychology perspective and the elements of national identity that can unite and divide,鈥 said Donley. 鈥淚 cannot wait to be there, learn there, and make lifelong friends in the process.鈥
While at 含羞草传媒 Donley has traveled to Estonia and is participating in a service learning trip early this summer in Thailand. She will spend the 2016-2017 academic year at UPAEP University in Puebla, Mexico.
Each year the US-UK Fulbright Commission selects 60 undergraduate students to participate in academic and culture programs at leading U.S. and UK institutions. The Commission selects participants through a rigorous application and interview process. Students are selected based on academic excellence, extracurricular and community activities, ambassadorial skills, and plans to give back to their home country upon their return.
Fallick and Donley are among seven 含羞草传媒 University students who have been selected for the Fulbright Summer Institute since 2012.
