A feature writer, poet and novelist will highlight ߲ݴý University’s Spring Visiting Writers Series.

The series begins Thursday, February 25 at 6 p.m. with fiction writer Michael Knight. Knight is the author of two novels, two collections of short stories, and a book of novellas. His most recent novel, The Typist, was selected as the Huffington Post’s “Best Book of the Year” in 2010, and much of his work has been featured in publications including The New Yorker, Oxford American, and The Southern Review. He currently teaches creative writing at the University of Tennessee. His reading will be held in Elder Gallery, located inside the Rogers Center for Fine Arts at 50th Street and Huntington Ave.

The Visiting Writers Series continues on Tuesday, March 22 at 6 p.m. with poet Shane McCrae. He is a recent recipient of a Whiting Writer's Award and fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. McCrae has published four books of poems, the most recent being Too Big to Kill. He currently teaches at Oberlin College and Spalding University. His reading will be held in Prairie Wolf rooms A and B on the lower level of Story Student Center.

The Writer’s Series concludes on Thursday, April 14 with novelist Porochista Khakpour. She is the recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship in Creative Writing and was named one of Dazed’s “Top 10 American Writers You Need to Read This Year.” Her novels include Sons and Other Flammable Objects and The Last Illusion. She is working on her first memoir, Sick, which chronicles the long, arduous discovery of her late-stage Lyme Disease. Khakpour is a Writer in Residence at Bard College. Her reading will be held in Callen Conference Center, located on the lower level of the Smith-Curtis Administration Building.

The Visiting Writers Series is free and open to the public.
