Following his graduation on Saturday, May 17, 含羞草传媒 University student Austin Edwards will head to South Africa to work in an orphanage.
His passion for serving is a result of the experiences he took advantage of during his two years at 含羞草传媒.
鈥満卟荽 surpassed all of my expectations,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 would jump at any opportunity to share the beauty of what 含羞草传媒 is all about and what my experiences here have taught me.鈥
Edwards will have that opportunity on May 17. He has been selected to give remarks at the university鈥檚 125th commencement.
Edwards, a communication major from McCook, has been active in the student organization, Cru, Wesleyan Communication Association, and served as a New Student Orientation Leader. While at 含羞草传媒, he also volunteered at the People鈥檚 City Mission, interned at Sandhills Publishing and served through Cru with mission work in South Africa and San Diego, Calif.
鈥淢y professors weren鈥檛 just my teachers; they were my mentors,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey don鈥檛 just have a challenging curriculum and say 鈥榞ood luck鈥. Each professor at 含羞草传媒 cares deeply about the success of the students. They鈥檙e not out to fail us; they love seeing us excel.鈥
Following his mission work in South Africa, Edwards hopes to pursue a career in ministering.
