The Aeolians from Oakwood University to perform, host clinic at º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½

º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ University (º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½) will host one of the most celebrated choirs from the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) tradition, the Aeolians from Oakwood University. Led by their esteemed director, Jeremy Sovoy Jordan, the Aeolians will be on campus on Saturday, November 2, for a choir clinic and performance series open to the public.

The Aeolians, known for their exceptional versatility and compelling performances, will work with the º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Choir and choirs from Millard South, Lincoln Southwest, Lincoln Northwest, and Lincoln Southeast High Schools during the clinic. The event will take place in O'Donnell Auditorium and is open to the public.

Schedule:

  • 9:00 - 9:20 a.m.: Lincoln Northwest High School
  • 9:25 - 9:45 a.m.: Millard South High School
  • 9:50 - 10:10 a.m.: Lincoln Southeast High School
  • 10:15 - 10:35 a.m.: Lincoln Southwest High School
  • 10:40 - 11:00 a.m.: º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Choir
  • 11:05 - 11:20 a.m.: Combined Choir rehearsal 
  • 11:20- 11:45 a.m.: Mini Concert by the Aeolians
  • 11:45 a.m.: Combined Choir Finale ("My Heart Be Brave" by Marques Garrett)

About the Aeolians

The Aeolians from Oakwood University are celebrated as Choir of the World Champions (2017) and gold medalists at the 2018 World Choir Games. Following their Carnegie Hall debut alongside Kathleen Battle, they captivated audiences at the American Choral Directors Association's 2019 convention. Their performances span genres, including vocal jazz, Negro spirituals, gospel, opera, and classical pieces such as the Bach motet. Audiences can expect a truly unforgettable musical experience.  While in Lincoln, the Aeolians will also be performing a free concert on Sunday, November 3 at 4:00 p.m. on the Abendmusik Concert Series at First-Plymouth Church, 2000 D Street.
